New collobaration Kaffeekommune

I'm excited to share more details about my latest collaboration! Towards the end of last year, Paul from Kaffeekommune approached me to design and produce cups for his participation in the German Barista Championships. The design aimed to reflect the flavor profile and sensory qualities of this special coffee. A precise design and craftsmanship of the vessels interior played an equally important role in supporting Paul's workflow effectively.

In a short yet intensive design phase, cups for the Espresso and Milk-Mix categories were created. The deliberate and subtle use of material and color aimed to provide Paul and his coffee with a stage that fosters a focused and clear atmosphere while allowing room for the complexity of the coffee to shine through. The cups are crafted from porcelain, with a glossy transparent glazed interior and an exterior that undergoes multiple diamond pad grinding sessions after the glaze firing, resulting in a distinctive silky egg-shell like surface. A subtle peach-red color gradient inside the cup enhances the sensory perception of the flavor profile.

It was a project that pushed my own limits and allowed me and my craftsmanship skills to grow!

Thank you Paul for this wonderful collaboration and the amazing insights into your world. Thank you for inviting me over to take part at one of your training sessions. And congratulations to your superb presentation and your fourth place at the championships.
